HCV and/or HCS assessments are carried out following applicable standards and have a positive impact on the community, ecology, climate, and our clients.
Assessment HCV-HCS
Obstacle
High Conservation Value (HCV) is an approach to more sustainable area management. It refers to areas with exceptional environmental, social, or cultural significance. These areas are identified and protected to minimize the negative impacts of development activities. HCVs are used in various sectors, including forestry, agriculture, and mining, to ensure sustainable practices. High Carbon Stock (HCS) is an approach to more sustainable area management based on the carbon stock stored in an area. It refers to forests with a significant amount of stored carbon. These forests are crucial in mitigating climate change by absorbing and storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Assessment of HCV and HCS can be carried out separately or integrated into one activity and reporting. The current problem is related to the division of areas for production and those that must be conserved. Based on HCV and HCS, areas that have HCV values and high carbon stocks must be conserved. However, as a private sector, the wider the production area, the higher the production will be.
