Social Impact Assessment (SIA) is a systematic process to identify, analyze, and monitor the potential social impacts of a project, program, or policy. SIA aims to ensure that the project provides maximum benefits for the community and the environment, while minimizing negative impacts. SIA is crucial because it can help companies make better decisions, enhance reputation, and build stronger relationships with the community. However, implementing SIA often faces various challenges, such as limited resources, complexity of social issues, and resistance to change. Gaia is ready to assist companies in overcoming these challenges through innovative SIA approaches, namely ethnography and appraisal inquiry. These approaches enable us to delve deeply into understanding the social, cultural, and value contexts of the affected communities, thus designing more relevant and sustainable interventions.

Through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions (FGDs), and participatory observations, we delve into the aspirations, concerns, and local knowledge relevant to the project. The ethnographic approach we employ allows us to deeply understand the values, norms, and socio-cultural systems of the community.
